Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact gets gameplay reveal

EVO Japan is currently going on and that means we get new fighting game footage to explore. And first on the docket is the highly anticipated Hunter x Hunter Nen Impact by Eighting.

We’re introduced to six of the game’s characters as they’re selected amid a roster that currently has room for 16; with Hunter x Hunter being a work in progress, this early visual may or may not represent what the final product will look like.

These are the same six fighters we saw in the sneak pAseek footage that saw them walking out onto the battlefield, but cut before any actual fighting went down. Their names are Hisoka, Netero, Leorio, Killua, Kurapika, and Gon.

Players form their teams of three and then get to secretly choose their order before the match begins. The action is instantly recognizable as characters zip about the screen with speedy mobility, (thanks in no small part to ground and air dashes) rapid combos, and assist maneuvers.

The game uses a lot of eighting previous mechanics such as a sort of X-factor a la Marvel. It also uses a lot of the company’s signature animations.

Aside from that, visually the game looks a tad basic, which is to be expected for a budget title. Though to be honest, it has much of the same visual flair of other eighting games on the PS2 and Wii so as someone who grew up with those games you wont see me complaining. It also has a small 16 character roster but again, budget title. Hell if Battle for the Grid could looks worse and have less character, then this shouldnt be an issues as long as its not too pricey.

Speaking of Battle for the Grid, this game has confirmed it wont have traditional motion imput and will instead have simple direction commands instead.

There is no release date at the moment.
