ARMS Receives Its First Update Since 2018

In a weird and frankly unexpected twist of fate, ARMS has received an update that does… something.

The last update was rolled out in September 2018 and made a number of balance adjustments. The latest one isn’t quite as exciting. Like the latest update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo says “several issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience”. This is likely to deal with as yet undisclosed security bug found in the game seeing as it was an either Switch title.

ARMS was the first fighting game Nintendo really pushed for eSports, giving it a position in EVO Japan and challenge events similar to Splatoon’s splatfests as well as free DLC characters. However, when it became clear the game was not the runaway success Nintendo had hoped, they quickly pulled out of any plans for the franchise, even killing off the completed ARMS comic. The last bit of love Nintendo has given the franchise was Min Min being a DLC character in Smash Ultimate Season 2.
