Skullgirls updates Valentine’s look

In an unexpected turn of events, Skullgirls is updated the ninja nurse Valentine’s look to replace her red crosses with pink shuriken. While no reason is given, this is likely due to the Red Cross being a copyrighted image and could put the game in hot water. This isnt the first time the game has been updated to change looks. Previously, panty shot were largely animated out of the game, with no official reason given.

This change will mean that at some point in the future every frame of Valentine animation in Skullgirls Mobile and Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be updated with the new design, along with any story mode art or other art pieces included in the Digital Art Compendium. Other characters that feature this cross shape like Ileum and the Last Hope will also be updated.

Given the scale of these changes, we don’t have an exact timeline for when they will start to appear in-game, but in all likelihood they will arrive at some point this year.

Skullgirls updates are particularly difficult do to it being all hand drawn animation. But now with the game getting its second wind and the mobile version continuing to pop off, perhaps these changes arent so impossible to do anymore.

Though it has yet to be seen if this change will be applied to the Switch version which has seemingly been abandoned by the developers, receiving none of the DLC or previous updates. Additionally, it put the prospect of the new Valentine Nendroid which was announced a few months ago into the air as it was revealed to be based on her original red cross design.
